Progress and Plans
Since 1990, we've seen firsthand the disparities in educational outcomes that persist along socioeconomic lines.
And yet, we also see clear evidence in corps members' classrooms – where children growing up in poverty achieve at the
same rate as their peers in wealthier areas – that these disparities do not need to exist. As a result, all of us at
Teach For America are working with a greater sense of urgency than ever before to become an even more effective movement to
eliminate educational inequity.
In order to reach our ambitious goals, we must continue to grow our revenue base significantly.

National supporters
On a national level, Teach For America is supported by private contributions from corporations, foundations, and individuals
as well as public funds from the federal government. View our list of national
supporters.
Regional supporters
Nearly 75 percent of our revenue comes from supporters in 29 regions where our corps members teach, and the vast
majority of our funds come from private foundations, corporations and individual gifts. Click on one of our 29 regions to learn about our impact in the community and how you can
help.
Sponsor A Teacher
By making a contribution of $5,000, individuals can help cover the annual cost of recruiting, selecting, training, and
supporting a corps member. Sponsors are afforded the unique opportunity – through classroom visits and ongoing
correspondence – to establish a relationship with a Teach For America corps member and his or her students.
Corporate Partnerships
Teach For America looks for national partnerships with corporations that share our commitment to educational equity. We seek
partners with the dedication, insight, and knowledge that will help us make an even greater impact and work more effectively
to provide educational opportunity for all children in this nation. We currently have three corporate partners, all of whom
contribute to our mission in important ways.
The first partnership of this kind was established with Wachovia Corporation in 2002. To ensure its support
has a real and lasting impact on our movement, Wachovia invests funding and management expertise for our national
capacity-building efforts, offers volunteers and other resources in several of our regional sites, and named Teach For America
the primary beneficiary of proceeds from the Wachovia
Championship for the past three years. Read the
(
) press release
about Teach For America and Wachovia's strategic partnership.
Early in 2006, Amgen joined us as our National Math & Science Partner. The Foundation will support 50
new Amgen Fellows each year, selected from incoming Teach For America corps members with undergraduate degrees in math and
science. The grant will support their recruitment, training, and professional development, and will provide each fellow with a
$2,000 signing bonus. In addition, Amgen's support will make possible an Amgen/Teach For America Math & Science Summit, to
be held annually in Washington, D.C. This symposium will bring together Amgen Fellows, Teach For America alumni who work or
teach in the fields of math or science, policy makers, and industry leaders. The summit will focus on ways of strengthening
math and science education in low-income communities. Read the (
) press release about Teach For America and
Amgen.
Most recently, Lehman Brothers joined Teach For America as our National Teacher Training Partner. Lehman Brothers will underwrite the costs of the design and development of the training institutes where we prepare our corps members to teach prior to their placement in classrooms across the country.
