After working as a consultant, I knew I wanted to spend my time and energy working toward something that I really cared about. Teach For America has given me this, along with exciting career growth opportunities. I was initially one of two developers on staff, and now I manage a team of eight developers.

Managing Director, Systems and Software Development
The Information Technology team's collaborative and entrepreneurial culture creates an environment in which every team member's input is valued. We work relentlessly in support of the organization's goals and mission, and at the same time are committed to spending quality time together as a group, including frequent team meetings and monthly team outings.
Each of the IT team's six functional areas is led by a vice president, reporting directly to the chief information officer. The team's functional areas range in size from 4 to 22 staff members, and we expect to have 75 IT staff members by September, 2009.
Professional development
Professional development is one our highest priorities. Team managers partner with staff members to create individualized development plans that allow team members to stretch themselves and grow professionally, both within and across the IT team's various disciplines,
allowing individuals the opportunity to work on projects
outside of their expertise.
