Teach For America's Information Technology (IT) team provides the organization with operational, strategic, and fiscal leadership in the innovation and growth of Teach For America's technology platform. Team members directly impact the advancement of our systems, in turn helping us realize the potential of our mission.

Team structure

Current initiatives
Teach For America partners with some of the largest names in technology, and is on the cutting edge with the latest technological software, equipment, and expertise. Current initiatives include:

Social networking with IBM: Social networking and collaboration through the implementation of the IBM WebSphere Portal and Web 2.0 technology, and IBM's Lotus suite of collaboration tools. We work closely with IBM's Product Group and senior technical talent and have direct influence on the future state of this product suite. Next, we plan to build out our Intranet. Major network upgrade with Cisco: We are implementing a major network upgrade with Cisco. This upgrade will greatly enhance our response time and the user work experience within our 32+ remote offices throughout the United States, paving the way for the implementation of VOIP and a robust video conferencing protocol. Waterfall SDLC and Agile SDLC methodologies: Our Application Development team uses both the Waterfall SDLC methodology and the Agile SDLC methodology, allowing project leaders and user groups the greatest flexibility.
